Students from different ethnic backgrounds came together through traditional Malay dance at the Festival Zapin Jauhar 2025, showcasing Malaysia’s cultural diversity through Zapin.

The video features Adeeswara Tari from SMK Dato’ Penggawa Timur, Johor Bahru, performing in the festival’s Kategori Pelbagai Etnik.

The performance brought together Chinese, Indian and Orang Asli students, who took to the stage with a coordinated Zapin performance while demonstrating their appreciation for the traditional Malay dance.

The person who shared the video expressed pride in seeing students from different communities learning about the origins and traditions of Zapin, while helping introduce the cultural art form to a younger generation.

With Festival Zapin Jauhar returning this October, the throwback shows how traditional arts can provide a shared space for young Malaysians from different backgrounds to learn about and celebrate the country’s cultural heritage. 🇲🇾
